My name is Sarah Walker Caron and I am a freelance writer, editor and recipe developer. I also shoot photos for some of my assignments and am active on major social networking sites including Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram.
In the beginning ...
I started my career as a newspaper reporter, first covering the police and weekend beat and later covering courts, cops, local governments and schools. I once argued an FOIA case in Hartford against a school district’s lawyer and won. Through my work at the paper, I developed a tenacity and addiction to deadlines that’s served me well in all my journalistic endeavors.
What I’m up to
These days, I am a senior editor for the Bangor Daily News in Bangor, Maine. We are a statewide paper, and I oversee our news coverage on the Maine coast.
I’m the author of six cookbooks, one nonfiction book and a short book on blogging. My latest book is the Disney Princess Tea Parties Cookbook, which combined my lifelong love of all things Disney with my love of cooking food people want to eat. It’s available where books are sold.
As a writer, I specialize in food, travel and parenting. You can find my recipes on sites like Betty Crocker and Pillsbury. In the past, I also wrote about food for Momtastic, iVillage and Yum for Kids Magazine. I’ve also written for Fine Cooking, Connecticut Magazine and BELLA Magazine. I am also the former editor of Bangor Metro Magazine, which was a regional monthly magazine in Maine.
Be sure to also check out my 17-year-old site Sarah’s Cucina Bella, a food blog about quick and easy home cooking for busy people. I am also the blogger behind The Lunch Box Ladies, a site dedicated to all things packed lunches.
When I am not busy in the kitchen or at the computer, I am a voracious reader, shoe addict and absolute beach lover. I am also mom to two wonderful kids who also love food and the beach (and reading too!).
